Puzzle Wars is a brand new strategy puzzle game launched by Tomy Toys. This mind challenging tabletop game that can be played head-to-head against a friend or on your own against the built-in timer. It is suitable for aged eight and above, and for one to two players.
The game comes with Puzzle Wars game board, puzzle card holder, 15 puzzle cards, 2 Puzzle boards (Star on one side and Hexagon on the other), sets of puzzle pieces and instructions. One thing to mention is that we find the print on the instructions far too small to read! Also, we had a hard time trying to snap out and remove the puzzle pieces neatly from the template without sharp edges. I had to spend another 15 minutes to smooth each piece to get rid of the leftover plastic from all of the pieces.
Once prepared, setting up the game board is pretty much straightforward. There is the main body which is the middle part of the board game that joins the two pieces of board with the blue frame together and the cardholder. It can be easily disassembled and placed back into the box for safekeeping.
It requires two AAA batteries, which are not included in the game. On the bottom of the game board, there is a switch for one or two player mode and off. To be honest, I would probably not bother to put the batteries in at all as the timer really only gives you sound effects. It can get quite annoying after some time, especially when you are about to finish! On the other hand, my children both like the sound effects to give the game a bit of kick!
There are 15 different puzzles, a mix of 5 Square, 5 Hexagon and 5 Star cards. It features three different boards: Square for easier puzzles, Hexagon for intermediate puzzles, and Star for expert level puzzles. For the square puzzle game, pick up 7 pink and 8 yellow square pieces and place them in the square puzzle board. To play, simply slide the pieces to match the puzzle game picture. This is quite easy to play for younger children. For the hexagon puzzle game, pick up 6 yellow (a mix of 2 triangles, 2 trapeziums and 2 rhombus shapes), 6 pink and 6 green pieces. For the star puzzle game, player 1 will pick 13 green pieces and player 2 picks 13 pink pieces.
We find this game challenging and fun too. It helps stimulate our brain to think strategically and problem solves by matching the correct shapes and colours of the piece to the picture. It also helps fine motor development! Puzzle Wars is available to buy now in good toy retailers, online and Amazon. For more information, please visit https://uk.tomy.com/products/tomy-puzzle-wars
