This is another amazing Engineering & Robotics set from Meccano, the 10-in-1 model Meccano Rally Racer with Meccablock Motor! The set comes with 159 durable metal parts, 2 real tools, a Meccablock motor and easy-to-follow instructions for three models. There are a total of 10 different builds packed into one set! The rest of the seven models can be found online only. It is suitable for aged eight and above. This is a novice difficulty level 2, with a construction time of 1-3 hours and is an ideal starter-kit for new builders.
This was not our first time building a Meccano set and we were all aware that it contains small parts and can be quite fiddly, even for an adult. It requires a lot of focus and concentration. I’m delighted they have made an enhancement to the tool! Now the nuts can be rest on the groove of the tool, which makes it easy to grip.
The Meccablock Motor requires three AAA batteries which are not included. It is best to install the batteries before you build your vehicle, otherwise, it can be quite tricky to place the batteries.
This set comes with a lot of individual packets which we placed into paint pots to keep them separate and easy to find. The step by step instructions are very detailed and we love that the instructions show the exact scale of the screws so that we can easily identify them.
It took Mr K and me just over an hour to build the first model of the vehicle. This set is not as difficult as some of the previous sets we have built before. I love how easy this set is, and I agree it’s a great set for a novice. We enjoyed the time building it. Once you build it, the car is very sturdy and looks great. There are three settings on the Meccablock Motor: either go forward or go backwards or off.
I would recommend Meccano Rally Racer to anyone who loves a good challenge and is a big fan of vehicles. It helps young minds tap into their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math as they piece together this S.T.E.M.-stamped building kit.
