Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder Review

7 May 2017 by Eileen

This Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder set comes with 259 durable metal parts, including rubber tires, stickers, pose-able steering, 2 ergonomic tools and easy-to-follow instructions. It is suitable for aged 10 and above. Mr C was so happy when he saw this Huracan Spyder set. This is one of his many dream cars he would like to own. I think he might just realise his dream if he sticks with models rather than a real one!

Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder review

This was not the first time building a Meccano set and we were all aware that it can be quite fiddly with small parts even for an adult. It requires a lot of focus and concentration. In addition to the tools provided, Mr C used a pair of forceps to help him to place the nuts and other small parts together. If you don’t have these, long nose pliers might be a good alternative too.

Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder instructions

This set comes with a lot of individual packets which we placed into paint pots to keep them separate and easy to find. The step by step instructions are very detailed and we love that the instructions shows the exact scale of the screws to be able to easily identify them. It also comes with flexible plates that make it easier to bend for the various curvatures of the car.

It took us just over an hour to build and I helped Mr C sort out the parts. There are some intricate steps that require some perseverance but once built, the car looks spectacular! I love all the details, especially the curve of the doors. I do think this is one of the easier models we ever did. Once you build it, the car is very sturdy and looks great, but perhaps lacks the wow factor that we’ve seen from other Meccano sets.

I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good challenge and is a big fan of Lamborghini. Even though Mr C built it, Mr K already told me that he is having it on his window sill for display. It is definitely a good car that will appeal to everyone! You can buy it in good toy stores and Amazon.

I used to love Meccano as a child. It looks like your husband had fun building it up. 🙂 x
