3 Reasons To Maintain Clean Air Ducts In Your Home

3 Reasons Why It Is Important To Maintain Clean Air Ducts In Your Home

Clean air ducts are essential to comfortable living. Some people put off air duct cleaning at home until they begin smelling unpleasant odors, sensing something odd about their indoor air, or when their HVAC system is on the verge of malfunctioning. Responsible homeowners know and understand the importance of keeping their air ducts clean. While some people judge against regular cleaning due to the cost, they fail to realize that they may be risking spending more in the future when problems start to arise, not only on the air ducts but on the health of their family.

3 Reasons To Maintain Clean Air Ducts In Your Home

There are a lot of reasons to maintain clean air ducts at home and these reasons significantly weigh more than the cost it entails. Here are some of the most compelling reasons why it is necessary to keep your home’s air ducts clean:

  1. Good Indoor Air Quality

The primary reason to maintain your air ducts is to ensure that the indoor air quality at your home is good. This is both for comfort and for health reasons. If you have good indoor air quality, your home feels more relaxed and comfortable. You won’t be bothered by unpleasant odors or some problems in your breathing.  Good air quality also means the absence of irritants and bacteria in the air inside your home. Hence, poor air quality may put your family’s health at risk as these bacteria and irritants can cause a variety of health problems. Some respiratory problems developed by children can be traced back on unsanitary air ducts at home.

  1. Improved Air Flow Efficiency

Efficient air flow inside the home is very important to make it very comfortable. Uncleaned air ducts may lead to lower air flow efficiency and affect the overall experience of breathing inside the home. Heavy build-up of grime and dust in your duct can restrict the flow of air from the furnace to your air conditioning unit. Hence, your HVAC system needs to work harder to cool or heat your home. By getting rid of grime and dust build- up, you can have a smoother HVAC work and a cozier home.

  1. Money and Energy Savings

Whenever you save energy at home, you also save some money from paying the energy bill. A clean air duct allows your HVAC system to run more efficiently which requires lesser energy compared to having it work harder to cool or warm your home. The US Department of Energy says that 25 to 40 percent of the energy used for cooling or heating the home is wasted due to poorly maintained HVAC system, including uncleaned air ducts. Hence, you can maximize this energy if you keep your air ducts well- maintained.

With all these benefits and more, there is no reason to put off your regular air duct cleaning schedule. To make sure that your air ducts are well- cleaned and well- maintained, hire a reliable air duct cleaning company.

We often leave our air ducts until the last minute, not good, I know!

What an interesting reminder about a basic home hygeine and safety feature. I am always surprised about how mucky vents and ducts get.
