Planning The Ideal Weekend Solo Picnic? 4 Helpful Tips

12 November 2022 by Eileen

After a packed week, making time to unwind and destress makes sense. And you can achieve this by organising a weekend solo picnic. Indeed, solo picnics are a great way to enjoy solitude and tranquillity while enjoying your favourite meals. You can also get enough time to reflect and plan for the next week without distractions. A solo picnic may sound weird, especially if you’re trying it for the first time. However, you can pull it off with the right tips. Here are a few worth considering.

Planning The Ideal Weekend Solo Picnic 4 Helpful Tips

  • Pick the right location

Location can enhance or ruin your picnic experience, making it essential to choose the right one. Fortunately, the decision shouldn’t be too difficult since you’re going alone. You only need to select your favourite spots. For instance, a beach picnic will work well if you enjoy staying close to the sea. On the other hand, you can leverage your community park or the woods if you want to embrace nature. You want to ensure that your location isn’t overcrowded or off-limits, so keep this in mind. If you don’t want to leave your home, you can picnic in your backyard, so feel free to consider this.

  • Prepare your menu

No picnic is complete without tasty meals, so preparing your menu is essential. The good thing is that you can choose various meals without worrying that someone else wouldn’t like them. Therefore, you can try simple meals like sandwiches, fruit juice, etc. You can also consider bringing easy-to-make desserts like strawberry yogurt fruit pots, white chocolate and raspberry flapjacks, lemon drizzle slices, etc. The key is bringing meals you delight in to heighten your picnic experience.

  • Prioritise your comfort

Your solo picnic may not be pleasant if you aren’t comfortable. Therefore, prioritising your comfort makes sense. And you can achieve this by bringing your cosiest blankets and pillows. Experts advise using lightweight options as they are quick-drying and easier to wash. You can also try a faux fur option for a more luxurious ambience. Another way to prioritise your comfort is to dress comfortably. As a tip, consider the weather and location to choose the most suitable attire. For instance, an oversized t-shirt and shorts will work well for a picnic in the park, especially if the weather is hot. Likewise, a flowy dress will be suited for a beach picnic, so feel free to consider this. You also want to rock a big hat and sunglasses to shield your face from the sun.

  • Disconnect from technology

You want to disconnect from your phone and other smart devices on your picnic, as they can make it challenging to unwind fully and relax. For instance, you may be tempted to respond to work emails, defeating the purpose of your picnic. Therefore, make it a point to leave these gadgets at home. Consider bringing your favourite books along if you’re concerned about being bored. Consequently, try journaling and observing your surroundings to keep you entertained.
