A Great Family Day In London In 6 Steps

13 November 2022 by Eileen

There’s no place like London for a family day out. The city is bursting with world-famous attractions, fantastic parks and green spaces, and an endless array of things to see and do.

With so much on offer, it can be tough to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together this handy guide to help you plan the perfect family day out in London.

In just six steps, we’ll take you through everything you need to know, from finding the best things to do with kids in London to top tips for getting around the city with little ones in tow. Luggage Storage King’s Cross is perfect for temporary storage of your belongings, and serviced apartments in West London offers a more comfortable space for you and your family to relax.  Plus benefit from excellent restaurants, cafes and beautiful garden.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!

A Great Family Day In London In 6 Steps

Step 1: Choose your mode of transport

The first step in planning your family day out is to choose your mode of transport. If you’re coming from outside of London, the easiest way to get into the city is by train.

If you’re travelling with young children, it’s worth considering getting a family ticket which will give you discounts on fares.

Once you’re in London, the best way to get around is by using public transport. Although it can be crowded during peak times, it’s generally safe and reliable. Plus, there’s the added bonus of not having to worry about finding parking!

If you’re going to be using public transport a lot during your day out, it might be worth investing in an Oyster card. This will give you discounted fares on all London Underground, bus, and tram journeys.

Step 2: Decide what you want to do

London is a huge city with so much to see and do. It can be overwhelming trying to decide what to do, especially if you’re short on time.

One of the best ways to narrow down your options is to think about what your family enjoys doing. Do your kids like museums or are they more interested in outdoor activities?

Once you’ve got an idea of the kind of things you want to do, it’s time to start planning your itinerary. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of some of the best things to do with kids in London:

Visit one of London’s world-famous museums: With so many to choose from, there’s sure to be a museum that your family will love. Highlights include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Take a ride on the London Eye: This is a great activity for all ages and gives you some stunning views of the city.

Explore Hyde Park: One of London’s most famous parks, Hyde Park is the perfect place to enjoy some time outdoors. There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained, from boating on the Serpentine Lake to horse riding in Hyde Park Stables.

Step 3: Find somewhere to stay

If you’re planning on spending more than just a day in London, you’ll need to find somewhere to stay. There are a few different options to choose from, depending on your budget and preferences.

If you’re looking for something affordable, there are a number of hostels and budget hotels located around the city. For a more luxurious experience, there are plenty of mid-range and high-end hotels to choose from.

Another option is to rent an apartment or holiday home. This is a great option if you’re travelling with a larger group or family as it gives you more space and privacy than a hotel room.

Step 4: Sort out your food options

No day out is complete without food! When you’re planning your family day out in London, it’s important to think about where you’re going to eat.

If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of affordable places to eat around the city. Fast food chains such as McDonald’s and KFC can be found all over London, or you could opt for a cheap and cheerful pub lunch.

For something a bit more special, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you’re looking for somewhere kid-friendly, many restaurants offer child-sized portions or special kids’ menus.

Step 5: Plan your route

Once you’ve sorted out your transport and accommodation, it’s time to start planning your route. If you’re using public transport, the best way to do this is by using a journey planner.

If you’re driving, it’s worth planning your route in advance to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Many of London’s roads can be quite congested, especially during peak times.

Step 6: Enjoy your day out!

Now that you’ve planned everything out, it’s time to enjoy your family day out in London! With so much to see and do, you’re sure to have a great time!
