The popular Santa’s Winter Wonderland is back now at SnowDome Tamworth for its 17th year. Families can slide about in snow tubes in one of the four slides, ride along on a sledge, play in real snow, throw snowballs, join Santa and Alice in their Winter in Wonderland show, get close and personal with little animals, ride on children’s carousel and many more. If you are looking for something to do with your family, then check them out for a fun day out.
Santa’s Winter Wonderland is a 90 minute adventure split into three different sections – Santa’s Christmas Snow Trail, Alice Winter in Wonderland and a trip around Santa’s Christmas Village. You get to spend 30 minutes in each area before you are ushered to the next section. It is a very well-organised event where you all get to explore and play while you are in there.
It is recommended to arrive there 30 minutes before you start your adventure. Since 2021, SnowDome has introduced a new rule requiring children aged between 2 to 16 who come to the attraction to wear crash helmets while playing in the snow. So it’s best to arrive early to get your helmet fitted. Everyone then waits in the holding area before being allowed into the first section of the adventure, which is Santa’s Christmas Snow Trail.
Inside Santa’s Christmas Snow Trail, there are four different-sized snow slides dotted around the area for different ages. As both my children are already teenagers, there is only one big snow slide they would play on. The rest are far too small, which I don’t recommend for teenagers. There are a lot of fun displays in different areas for the family to play and explore and of course, you can go instagraming with the snow (it is on/off, so watch out and get your timing right). There are plenty of sledges for everyone to have a go on too.
After half an hour, the trumpet sounds and we all headed into the theatre to catch up with Santa and his friends in this brand new Alice Winter in Wonderland in a small cosy theatre. This time, Santa is late for a very important date – watch Alice follow him into the fantastical world of Winter Wonderland where things are sure to get curiouser and curiouser when they meet Maddie Hatter and The Cheshire Cat.
Once the show finished, we then moved into Santa’s Christmas Village where we got to meet a lot of Santa’s furry animals like the alpacas, rabbits, piglets, goats and guinea pigs. You are allowed to stroke them but be careful as animals do bite. There are plenty of wash basins for you to clean your hands afterwards.
There is also a traditional children’s carousel for children 140cm and below, but unfortunately, it was unsuitable for us. You can write your wish list to Santa and drop it into his talking post box. You can also view his house, take a photo with his huge Christmas tree and get yourself a hot chocolate (costs £2.50) or mineral water.
Before heading home, you will have the last chance to take a family photo in front of their green screen before viewing it at the counter. At the end of the adventure, everyone will receive a Lindt chocolate.
