Nostalgia trivial game is a board game from Cheatwell Games that recalls the past events of the late 20th Century. You will face questions from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, music, TV, films and fads & fashion. This game is suitable for ages 16 and above, for two players/teams or more.
It comes with a small square playing board, 440 question cards, 6 playing counters, a die and instructions. The question cards sit neatly on the plastic tray with a hole to hold the playing pieces. There are eight categories and they are the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, Music, TV, Film and Fads & Fashion. The question cards are quite small in size to hold and it’s not helped by the tiny font size. Older or visually impaired people like my daughter will have a hard time looking at the questions. Luckily, we always have a magnifying glass to hand.
The objective of the game is to be the first/fastest player or team to reach the Finish square to win the game. To begin, place everyone’s playing pieces on the Start rectangle. For many games, the youngest player starts the game, but not this time. Here, the oldest player starts first. Roll the die and move the playing piece accordingly.
Now answer a question based on the category that they have just landed on. The number rolled on the die determines which question they are asked. For example, if you rolled a number 2, you will get the second question listed on the card. If you answer correctly, roll again and move your playing piece.
We played as a team. When it is our turn and we answered incorrectly, the opposite team can answer and move a space if they answer correctly.
Whenever you or your team answers incorrectly, it moves to the next person or team. In this game, no two playing pieces can occupy the same space, so jump to the next available empty square if occupied.
We all found it fun and challenging to guess and it kept us scratching our heads, especially the 1960s. Given the 20th Century selection of decades, this should appeal to older audiences and would be better played in teams. This Nostalgia game is available from Amazon.
