Innovative Home Ideas that can improve your life

17 May 2022 by Eileen 1 Comment

One of the reasons why innovative designs are a common addition to most homes today is because they add value. They are perfect if you want to add unique features to your home. Not to mention, they are a great way of improving your home while saving money, energy, and time you could incur in the future. This could go a long way to help you add comfort as well as the resale value. Whether it is windows with internal blinds, creative storage space, a pest extermination system, concealed rooms, unique walk-in showers, etc. there are many ways to get innovative with your space. To that end, what are some of the innovative home ideas you can adopt to improve your life? Below are a few of them you could consider.

Innovative Home Ideas that can improve your life

Underfloor heating

If you hate the cold, then you might want to have an underfloor heating system installed. You are not only getting a warm floor space, but also an energy-efficient one. Usually, when compared to other conventional heaters, this kind of feature operates at a lower temperature. This means that little electricity is used and less heat is wasted since it does not just blow hot air out, but rather warms from the ground. Oftentimes, electrical and hydronic(water-based) underfloor heating types are the most popular. However, the one you choose for your home should be based on your lifestyle.

Heat-rejecting windows

Low-E or low-emissivity windows are slowly gaining recognition. They are made of glass panes with greater radiant heat rejection than standard glazing thanks to a special film coating on them. This way, installing them in the exterior windows helps to easily reflect the sun’s light which helps to reduce overheating in the house during the daytime. This is an excellent addition for anyone who wishes to cut down their air conditioning costs. In addition, your furniture and other items in the house will not fade as quickly since the low-E film blocks UV light.

Flexible spaces

Hackable spaces are now very popular in the commercial construction industry. If you are dealing with a small space, you could then consider making the different areas easily convertible for different purposes. For instance, you could have a bedroom that could be converted into a study room, playroom, guest room, etc. It all depends on the needs of your household. Sliding wall panels between or within an area can be installed in order to enable easy shrinking or expanding, with regard to the need. Should a room have more than one function, multiple power outlets might be necessary for different configurations.

Smart home devices

Another innovative feature you could consider for your home is adding smart technology. This could include automating your home devices. With such a system, clarity on energy usage is important as it helps to improve convenience while saving on bills. Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Siri are some of the most commonly used digital home ecosystems. These act as the brain to help control different functions around the house such as security cameras, robot vacuum cleaners, lighting, thermostats, door locks, et al. All these are easily executed via voice commands or in other cases, using a smartphone.
