Maki Stack Game Review

28 July 2019 by Eileen

For this month’s review for the Asmodee UK Blogger Board Game Club, we have received this interesting and easy to play Maki Stack party game! It is a sushi showdown game that will appeal to all ages! If you are like us, as someone who loves sushi and stacking games, then this game is for you!

Maki Stack Game Review

This game is for four to six players and it’s a great game for parties! It is suitable for aged seven and above. The game comes with six beautifully decorated wooden sushi (two Cucumber rolls, two California rolls and two Fish Roe rolls), two wooden soy sauce bottles, two small wooden plates, two sushi cardboard mats, two foam masks and 40 Challenge cards.

The object of the game is very simple! Players have to race to stack the wooden objects as fast as they can by matching the stack illustrated on a Challenge card! The team with six Challenge cards wins the game!

Maki Stack Game

There are two ways of playing. You can either play the Mask Mode which uses the red Challenge cards or the Chopstick mode which uses the yellow Challenge cards. For the Mask mode, you select a player to wear the mask to stack the objects while others direct him/her by describing the stack shown on the card.

For the Chopstick mode, everyone is working as a team by each using only one hand and one finger as chopsticks working together to grab the objects to stack.

This game should have a broad appeal as it’s not complex and doesn’t require much thinking. It is such a simple and fun game that everyone of all ages can enjoy! I love the quality of the wooden objects as they are very well made and should last for a long time. This is available to buy from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.
