Kitedrone Kites Review

10 March 2019 by Eileen

Last month, on the 8th February, marked the yearly National Kite Flying Day by many kite flying enthusiasts. We were so lucky to try out this Kitedrone Twinstar Hot Rods from Character Options, especially at this time of the year, when it is quite breezy and with clear skies.

Kitedrone Kite review

Kitedrone offers an impressive range of high-performance kites that are supplied in their own transport tube and are available in both Aircraft and Twinstar styles.

The Twinstar styles come in four colourful designs (Unicorn, Tiki Surfers, Fort and Hot Rods) and form a traditional box shape kite with rapid one-step assembly. We have received the Fort design which is packed with lots of colourful military vehicles all around. It comes in a transport tube which protects the kite in transport. It is so easy to assemble, disassemble and store back into the tube!

When I first saw the shape of the kite, I was quite sceptical as to how it would launch and fly as it is not the usual shape of a kite! In fact, this effective design is magnificently balanced and can even be hooked up to a GoPro to record your flight.

There are four plastic rods provided and you insert two of the rods across into the rubbery slots at the top and two at the bottom. Occasionally the kite can lose its shape while flying in stronger winds so its best to check and reposition the rods if necessary.

We find this Twinstar so easy to launch from the ground and it flies easier than any other kites we have had before! I love this kite! The materials are well made and colourful. The whole frame is lightweight and durable.

Both my children and husband all had a go and really enjoyed flying it. It went up very high in the air, and in fact, this can go to an incredible 300 feet. This unique shape kite has really converted me – they are so much easier to fly than those traditional looking kites!

The Kitedrone Twinstar is aimed at ages five and above, and it will be loved by everyone, especially the young ones! It is well made and durable. I would definitely recommend this. It is available to buy from Character Options, Argos and Amazon.

Also, do check out their Aircraft style which requires no assembly and each has an impressive 5ft wingspan! The air pockets in the body inflate the fuselage and engine pods to increase flying performance giving the ultimate Kitedrone experience.

Here is the range of Kitedrones:

  • Twinstar Unicorn
  • Twinstar Tiki Surfers
  • Aircraft Blue Tiger
  • Aircraft Camo
