100 Birds to See In Your Lifetime is a part aspirational encyclopedia and part identification guide, that provides detailed summary information and range maps, along with beautifully written profiles featuring unusual facts, anecdotes and its significance. This book title by David Chandler and Dominic Couzens published in 2008 has been revamped with a brand new cover and will be available to buy from 4th April 2019 onwards.
Mr C is a nature lover and loves watching all kinds of natural world documentaries and has a selection of books on nature. He is not a hardcore bird spotter but he is always keen to be one and take his binoculars out on walks in the countryside.
The book is perfect to encourage his enthusiasm for birds. It is beautifully printed and well written. Each species is given a page of text that summarises all you need to know, plus a small distribution map and a full-page photograph.
The list has been fiercely debated by two renowned birding authors (David Chandler and Dominic Couzens), using various criteria to arrive at a top 100. The book starts with the number 100 before moving down the list to some endangered and rare species.
We all enjoy reading this well-researched book and it is definitely great to keep on the bookshelf. Therefore I would recommend it. It is available to pre-order now via Carlton Books, any good book store and Amazon.
