It’s Time To Freshen Up Your Window Scene!

1 January 2019 by Eileen

How fresh would you consider your house to be right now? It’s just before the right time for spring cleaning, and you’re probably still cleaning up debris from a party or two, and the space is starting to feel a little stale. When you look out of your windows, whether in your living room or your bedroom, what do you notice? Maybe the glass is a little dusty. Maybe the panes are a bit cracked and discoloured – well, now’s the perfect time to do something about them!

Winter can be pretty too, and having some cool, crisp, and fresh air blowing in and out of your house can be a wonderful remedy for any blues you’re still feeling! So here’s a couple of tips on your can freshen up your window scene, and make your home feel bigger and brighter as a result.

It's Time To Freshen Up Your Window Scene

Get Creative with the Cleaning

Being creative with the way you clean up your windows might require a bit of careful experimentation, unless you already know all the best home solutions for making sure there’s not even a hint of a greasy fingerprint on the glass your window seat is mounted up against!

Leave the vinegar in the cupboard, as it’s not going to do anything for killing off the germs lingering on your pane, and instead try out something like soap and a bit of water. It’s a classic, and will leave your windows clearer than you’ve ever seen them. And if you’re worried about soap streaks, get a bit of old newspaper, scrunch it up, and start scrubbing them off too!

Fix Up the Patio Doors

If you’re someone lucky enough to have a full set of patio doors installed in your home, make sure these are in fully working order. You want to be able to open them from time to time, to let the cool air in and circulate your home to humidify and purify the air you’re breathing. Not only that, but you want some easy access to the garden, and you want them to have just the right amount of sealing and insulation. It’s no good feeling like you’re trapped in your own home because the seal is too tight, or the door handles are broken.

Speaking of the latter, be sure to research articles like Fix your upvc door handle mechanism to get quick fixes for problems like these. After all, you’re all about homemade solutions, and you can feel like a real DIY expert here!

Get Yourself Some Plant Pots

Once you’ve done all the hard grafting, you’re going to want to spruce up the space available. And one of the best ways to do that is to line up some plant pots and get potting. There’s a whole list of the best seeds to go out and buy right here.

Your windows could probably do with a some refreshing; make sure you’re using elbow grease and home solutions!
