These days we understand that there’s much more to being healthy than how much we weigh and to help us to get on track and more detailed health statistics, the eufy BodySense Smart Scale is the way to go. I know that smart scales with Bluetooth are not a new thing in the market, but what I love about this scale is how affordable it is and how smart it looks!
These smart scales pairs with your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth to track and log all your readings for up to 16 users. On top of this, the app (App Store or Google Play) provides an analysis of your body’s composition that you don’t normally get from a regular scale. I will explain the details later.
These smart scales require 4 AAA batteries which are included. Where you insert the batteries, there is a small unit button located inside the battery lid. You can either select the measuring unit: Pound/Stone/Kilogram via there or within the app as well. There is no on/off switch on these scales and it only works when you place it on flat, solid ground and stand on it. I love that it does not turn on while holding it. There are so many times when I have accidentally turned my old digital scales on while holding or moving it. These scales are definitely very smart in conserving the batteries.
Next, I have noticed that the feet on the scales are very well padded and grips well on solid floors. The scale comes in two colours: white and black. I have received the black scales and it looks very stylish. It has a mirror effect and a big LED number display, which makes it easy to read. You can use the scales without the app if you don’t need to track the data. How I wish we had this years ago, so I could track my children’s weights! I reminisce about the time when I would weigh them every month and measure their heights to track their growth.
To track your weight, you will have to open the app and it will automatically connect to your device. I did not have any problems getting it to connect and it works instantly. For first-time use, I needed to register with my email address and key in my gender, age and height. The app allows you to track 16 users and to add a user, just swipe right to open the menu. The app is easy to use and to navigate. You can also connect your app to Fitbit to synchronise the data. Personally, I do not own a Fitbit, so I am unable to comment on that.
When you have weighed yourself, the scales will automatically calculate some extra information. The extra info can be useful for some but definitely not for me. It is not that I don’t know how to analyse the data, but it is more like I don’t really need to know about the data. It would be useful for some people if they are on a strict weight loss program or with health problems.
The app will tell you where you land on the Body Mass Index (low, normal or high), what percentage of your weight is body fat, water, bone mass, muscle mass, visceral fat, lean body mass, body fat mass etc. Personally, I will use this extra data as a guideline and not rely on it too much. It is important to remember to not get too fixated on the metrics, but rather look at the information in aggregate and over time. If you have any problems, it is best to speak to your GP.
These smart scales are not much more expensive than a set of normal scales. It is very affordable especially with all the extra data and it looks very stylish and great in any room. I would recommend it if you are looking for an upgrade of your current scales to these. You can get it from eufy or Amazon.
