Are you planning your very own outdoor adventure? Then don’t forget to buy this young explorer kit from Discovery Channel, which equips you with everything you need for an outdoor adventure. It comes with binoculars that has 4x magnification and 30mm objective lenses plus built-in compass, larger separate compass with carry strap, a compact field trip microscope with integrated light and carry strap as well as a small notepad and pencil to jot down your discoveries.
Now and again, we love to visit our local National Nature Reserve, Sutton park, with our children. It is one of the largest urban parks with 2,400 acres and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The park has open heathland, woodlands, seven lakes, wetlands, and marshes. The place is vast and each part has its own rich variety of plants and wildlife. There are also cattle and wild ponies that graze on the lands.
Having just recently moved here, we are taking our time to explore the areas and both children are very keen to investigate the place. This is why I love this Discovery Young Explorer Kit! It has everything curious children need to investigate the world around them and it appeals to Ms C who always questions everything. It is amazing what she will notice when she use the binoculars and microscope to get closer to nature.
We have already reviewed some of the Trends UK Discovery Toys sets, like the Digital Metal Detector and Double Globe Planetarium & Discovery Digital Walkie Talkies, so we had high hopes for this latest addition.
The binoculars is quite compact, lightweight and cushions with soft materials around the lens and the body of the binoculars. It comes with a carry strap with a safety release feature. It is easy to focus the lens by moving the central wheel on the bridge between the two eyepiece tubes.
Out of all the kit, Ms C loves the compass the most. She uses it everywhere she goes now and she enjoys getting her bearings. It took us some time to explain to her why the compass needle always points north and how to use it correctly. She is definitely enjoying learning and using the compass to read the map! Children can learn such a beneficial life skill and if they ever got lost, being able to use a compass could help them find their way home.
Next is the lightweight field microscope with integrated light and carry strap with a safety release feature. It requires three button cell batteries which are included in the kit. This is best to use with a white background so that it is easy to achieve a sharp image.
This also comes with a handy notebook and pencil. It is definitely good for them to document their findings, what they see and other useful details. I love that this kit is well-made with safety features. This kit is carefully designed to be educational and provides plenty of fun to use! It is available to buy in good department stores and Amazon.
