Nerf Laser Ops Pro is the brand new laser battling segment from Hasbro that brings real-time video game action to life. We were delighted to receive this AlphaPoint Blaster 2-pack, which consists of two blasters and two silicon armbands. It requires 8 AA batteries (4 batteries per blaster) which are not included in the pack.
We are no stranger to all the Nerf lines and are big fans of them! From non-motorised to motorised blasters to build & customise your own ultimate blasters! This time around, they have done it again by bringing real-time video game action to life! Both of my children were ecstatic with this Laser Ops Pro, especially with the influence of recent trending video games like Fortnite and Roblox.
The unique blasters come ready to play with a variety of features including three play modes: solo, team or free-for-all. You have to download the free Nerf Laser Ops Pro app through App Store and Google Play on select iOS and Android devices. It offers real-time battle intel allowing players to customise their blasters, track performance, earn power-ups and locate opponents during battle. Each time you battle, you gain points which can be exchanged to upgrade your blasters. You can also check your battery life on the screen and many more.
The blasters also feature a multi-directional receiver dome, unlimited ammo, team light indicators, visual/sound effects to notify players they have been hit, and a display to show current health and ammo capacity.
As mentioned earlier, these blasters required batteries, which are easy to install through the front of the blasters. Use a cross screwdriver to remove the screw to access the batteries compartment. It is best to use fresh batteries for all. I accidentally mixed in some old batteries and it wasn’t powerful enough to synchronise with my phone at all.
The blasters are very well made with a nice overall weight. The blasters are self-explanatory to use, like the trigger and on/off button. Also looking through the light from the receiver dome, you will be able to identify the colour of your team etc. To reload your ammo, simply press/push the button on the base of the handle on any part of your body. Children find it fun to pretend to reload all the time! The blasters are very responsive and the sounds are realistic. There is no volume control on the blaster itself at all. If you find it too loud (combined noise from the blaster and phone), you can turn down the volume of your phone instead.
Currently, we are using Huawei Pro Lite and Samsung S8+ phones, which both fit in the armbands very well. The armbands are very stretchable and durable and should last for a long time. I love that the armbands are made from silicon, which makes it comfortable to wear on your skin. My nine year old daughter has the thinnest of wrists and it fits her just right so it should fit most eight year olds and onwards.
Both of my children find it these blasters fun and challenging to play with or without the app. We all love the laser concept and no doubt this will be this year’s must-have toy for older children!
