GraviTrax Starter Set Review

July 16, 2018 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Introducing you to this outstanding interactive STEM track system from Ravensburger’s GraviTrax that is gravity defying! Now fans can use their imagination to build their own superb tracks, release the gravity spheres and watch the forces of nature work to create an action-filled adventure! This STEM system (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is an ideal set to teach children about gravity, magnetism, kinetic energy and fun. It is suitable for ages eight years and above.

GraviTrax Starter Review

The GraviTrax track system can be extended indefinitely with extra track packs and add-ons which are sold separately. They are the Trax Extension Pack, Building Extension Pack, Action Catapult Add-on, Action Hammer Add-on, Action Loop Add-on and an Action Magnetic Cannon Add-on. I will introduce you to some of the add-on sets later in August, so look out for those!

This starter set comes with over 120 components including instructions, blueprint, exercise booklet, 4 card bases, 2 transparent levels, 6 gravity spheres, 3 long rails, 6 medium rails, 9 short rails, magnetic cannon, 21 curved bases, 3 ‘X’ intersection bases, vortex base, 2 ‘Y’ points bases, end target, 3in1 base, 4 bases for inserts, 3 way starter base insert, 2 catcher base inserts, 2 switches, 1 base insert, free fall base insert, target base insert, 40 large vertical tiles and 12 small vertical tiles.

The components are very well made from good quality materials. The card bases are easy to piece together and made from hard cardboard, which creates the foundation, whilst the holes hold the hexagonal tiles in place. I do find that it is best to place the card bases on a hard floor or table for better stability.

GraviTrax Starter loop track

We all love the two transparent level plates as it allows you to build a taller tower but still allow you to see through to the base.

GraviTrax Starter booklet

The exercise booklet gives you a few examples to start with, from easy to hard, depending on the levels you wish you choose. Mr K always loves to freestyle and within minutes he was able to build his ultimate track without having to go through the booklets.

GraviTrax is a STEM-inspired toy that combines the classic marble run and erector set with modern twists! There is a neat launch pad that allows you to place three balls in the green cage to launch three at the same time. They also have the magnetic cannon which will launch a different ball on the other side at great speed!

This set contains all the key components to get going and some. GraviTrax is a fresh concept, containing modern pieces and is great fun to play with! I would definitely recommend it and it will make a fantastic gift for anyone! It is great value for money and durable. You can get it from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.

You can also use the free app (App Store and Google Play) for the GraviTrax ball track system with its free editor to build your very own fantastic tracks, and then roll the balls as you watch from different angles. Try endless new combinations and come up with new ideas to build your tracks. Experience the tracks interactively and follow the balls from a variety of camera angles – including in Virtual Reality if you have the right headset / compatible phone.
