Monopoly Gamer Review

22 October 2017 by Eileen

Monopoly Gamer is a brand new way of playing the classic monopoly with a Nintendo twist! They have joins forces with the beloved Nintendo video game characters to create this unique way of playing. Instead of standard Monopoly tokens, the game features super Mario characters, each with their own special powers within gameplay and it’s not just about the money. You earn points by collecting Coins, buying Property, and beating Bosses!

In this Monopoly Gamer, you get to play as Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi, or Donkey Kong. It is suitable for aged eight and above. This comes with a game board, 4 Nintendo character tokens (Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong), 4 Character cards, 4 Reminder cards, 8 Boss cards, 16 title deed cards, 1 numbered die, 1 power-up die, 90 coins, and instructions. All the children love the character’s playing pieces and were thrilled about this game.

This Monopoly Gamer has much less properties and spaces to buy compared to the classic game with only 16 instead of 28 properties. We love that by adding Nintendo concept into this traditional Monopoly game, it gives it a different dimension. Instead of Chance Cards and Community Chest Cards, they are replaced with Boss card where you get to roll a die to challenge the Boss! If this game is played with 2 or 3 players, when setting up the Boss deck, play with some changes which can be found in the instructions.

Also you get a power-up die to roll along with the numbered die. You will move and you will also activate a power-up ability. This can give the characters a helpful special boost!

To set up the game, each player chooses their character and places it on the GO. Each get their Character’s card with a Reminder Card. Then start each player with 5 Golden Coins (worth 1 each) and 1 Five Coin (worth 5 each). All the children have no problem getting themselves set up to play! They all had fun trying to earn points and get the highest score to win.

We find this game very refreshing and easy to play. Also you would never know if you are winning as things change very quickly especially each the Characters have their own unique Super Star Ability. I would recommend this game to anyone. It is available to buy now in good toy retailers and Amazon. For more information, please visit https://www.hasbro.com/en-gb/. This sounds lots of fun. I remember playing the older version of the original Monopoly as a child at Christmas time with all the family

Looks like fun. I like Monopoly, but we don’t play that often, for lack of time mainly.
