Simon Optix Review

25 September 2017 by Eileen

Simon Optix is a futuristic take on the classic Simon game! The innovative Simon Optix game is a wearable electronic game of lights and sounds in which players must repeat random sequences of lights by moving their hands in the correct order. It is suitable for aged eight and above.

Simon Optix Review

The Simon Optix headset is very well made and it is adjustable by opening the latch on the inside of the headset to loosen the strap, wear it and use the dial on the left side anticlockwise to tighten it. I do find it quite tight on my temple and have to position it slightly higher on my head but it still works properly. For my children, the headset is slightly too big for them, but by getting them to wear a cap or thick hoodie, it seems to do the trick.

The headset requires four AAA batteries which are not included in the set. Once you turn on the power button, turn the dial until you see a green light which indicates the Solo game. Players must repeat random sequences of lights by moving their hands in the correct order. The suspense builds as the sequence gets longer! We find that the headset is very responsive and accurate when our hands are placed in front of the headset. It does get more and more difficult for every level and arms will start aching.

If you complete a level, all lights flash and you will hear a victory sound. Then progress to the next level. If you fail, you will hear a fail sound and your score will be displayed by flashing and beeping.

You can either play solo or with friends in Sync Mode (requires additional headsets, sold separately). So far, we only have one headset and unable to test out the Sync Mode.

If you accidentally hit the on button, it only takes just a few seconds to turn itself off which is great to conserve battery when you pack it away into the box.

This Simon Optix indeed is a great party game and watching everyone’s moves are very amusing. This is a very affordable futuristic toy. It is available in good toy retailers and Amazon. For more information, please visit https://www.hasbro.com/en-gb/
