Songmics Cabinet Storage Organiser Review

26 September 2017 by Eileen

As our children grow up, we seem to be forever getting new furniture, redecorating their rooms to their preference and of course, getting storage for all their bits and pieces. Luckily, we have this Songmics cabinet storage organiser to give us a helping hand.

Songmics Cabinet Storage Organiser review

We used to have plastic drawers to store their clothing but it was always jam-packed, overflowing and difficult to get anything in and out from it. We didn’t want to invest in solid furniture yet so we picked this cabinet storage organiser in the interim. As many parents will know, children tends to change their minds on styling very quickly.

Songmics sells a range of creative products from home organizers, makeup and jewellery organizers to outdoor and sports equipment and many more via Amazon in the United Kingdom and many other countries.  Do follow their Facebook page for giveaway promotion every week!

Their products allow you to combine units into various shapes to fit your needs in a small space. This cabinet storage organiser has an amazing storage capacity of 886 litres. It is great for storing your items such as shoes, clothes, toys etc.

It comes with high-quality PP plastic (sheet) panels and durable ABS plastic (connector). You can piece them together in whatever configuration you want. I am going to place these mini shelves into my son’s room which is used to store his clothing and toys. I didn’t want to use all the sheets to build a large cabinet as his room has limited space. So I have only used half of the sheets to piece these together. I am going to using the rest of the sheets to build another cabinet for another room.

Installing the cabinets are very straightforward but I did take a while to think through how to maximise the space. It took me nearly an hour just to piece them together including adjusting the doors.

To install, insert the wire of each sheet into the connectors and use the mallet that is provided to reduce the gap between the sheets. Initially I only pressed it firmly by hand and it would inevitably break apart. It is best to use the mallet to ensure a secure assembly for all. This cabinet is not hard to install but it take times to place it properly. I found one or two doors were slightly tilted and were unable to close properly and I would have to remove the sheets and re-do the unit.

Once it is built, the cabinet is sturdy and durable. There is a maximum loading capacity of 10kg in each grid. It is best to avoid storing heavy items like dumbbells, books or sharp items. The cabinet is not fully sealed tight as there are gaps in between the sheets. Hence dust may find its way in.

This cabinet measures 35.5 cm x 35.5 cm x 35.5 cm and for the hanger, I have used children’s hangers. It is perfect for Mr K’s jackets and coats for now but it is definitely not for adult clothing as it would be too big to fit into the cabinet.

I like this type of cabinet storage organiser as it allows me to restructure the shape of the cabinets whenever I want or when children outgrown the storage. It is very easy to disassemble and store away. Also this is very children-friendly as the sheets are waterproof, moisture-proof, anti-mildew and anti-dust.
