Ticket To Ride is a fun strategy game that will appeal to everyone. This game is all about planning your routes to win. It is suitable for ages eight and above and can be played by 2 to 5 players. It is available to buy from Esdevium store finder or on Amazon.
This is a cross-country train adventure where players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America. It consists 240 coloured train cars, 110 train car cards, 30 destination tickets, 1 summary card, 5 wooden scoring markers, instructions and of course the board which shows a map of North America train routes.
Check this tutorial to learn how to play the game: https://youtu.be/6tM5u2egHt0
This game requires a large table to place the board. Then each player will get their own coloured train cars, 4 train car cards and 2-3 destination tickets to begin with. The player with the most points wins and the end of the game happens when one player gets down to just 2 train cars left, then each player gets one more turn to get as many points as they can.
We played this game amongst adults and it took us a while to get to know the game. We kept referring back to the instructions to make sure we were following the rules. This game is all about strategy and planning with the available cards in your hands. If some of the routes are blocked by other players, you have to plot another route to score the points on your card. We love this game because it is fun, challenging and it’s nice to get a better sense of some of the major cities in America. I would definitely recommend it for adults and children who like strategy games.

My favourite classic engine is Mallard. The design is similar to the shap of modern trains like the HST or Pendolino yet dates back to 1935.

The Flying Scotsman – it’s been lovely to see it in the news again recently
I live in Swindon … where all the great Steam Locomotives were made. My Favourite is the GWR 4900 No. 5972 Olton Hall … Which is the Train Used in Harry Potter – The Hogwarts Express.
The Orient Express
I remember watching Murder on the Orient Express with my grandparents and my grandad explaining that they used the the real Orient Express engine for filming (although it couldn’t move very far). It seemed a very luxurious and mysterious way to travel and I dreamed of travelling through Paris, Strasbourg and Vienna.
I am not really into my trains, so don’t have a favourite.
I love Steam Trains 🙂
The Flying Scotsman. We have a lovely watercolour of it in our lounge x
I would be giving this to my Dad who is obsessed with trains so I do not have a fave classic train, unless the Hogwarts Express counts?! I think it was called Olton Hall if I remember what my Dad told me! :-p

I don’t have a favourite classic train, sorry. I love this board game though. My brother in law owns it and I play it with him sometimes but I also have the electronic version on my tablet and play it most days. I’d love to win my own RL version too, although this seems to be a different board and a more simplified version than his european countries map one.

Somehow I still don’t own a copy of this game…

The Orient express it’s gorgeous and iconic.
I love trains and I’ve lived next to a track for the last 24 years! It was one of the reasons I bought the house lol. I adore steam trains though I couldn’t choose a particular favourite! We are very lucky because we get lots of lovely old engines passing here, especially in the summer- we can hear them chugging from a distance away so we’re forever charging into the garden shouting,” Train, everyone! Traaaaain!” Yes, this game would go down very well in our household!
Wow! This sound amazing! Good luck!
