Chrono Bomb is a spy mission game where children use string to create a laser maze to crawl through and at the end of the maze is a ticking bomb! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to reach the bomb before the time runs out. It is suitable for aged seven onwards and for one or more players.
The game comes with eight gear cards, two mission cards, four standard clamps, reel clamp with 10 metres of string, sensor clamp, bomb-sensor clamp and instructions. It requires three AAA batteries for the bomb-sensor clamp, which are not included.
To set up this game, you need a room with lots of furniture to secure the clamps. We chose our dining room so that we could use the chairs and table. It is not ideal as the chairs might move but it was the easiest place to set up. Once you select your room, you start off by clamping the bomb-sensor clamp then followed by the other clamps. Setting it up is straightforward. My son wanted to do it himself but we end up having to rearrange it. He managed to coil the clamp a couple of times which is not allowed. Later we settled on a simple laser maze and swapped it around to make it more challenging.
There are two game modes: single or countdown. The single game comes with 10 seconds to prepare and there is no time limit. The countdown game also comes with 10 seconds to prepare and you can select the duration of the course from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. We find that 30 seconds is sufficient. The laser maze we made was not very big that needed more than a minute, due to the limit of clamps, string and location.
My children enjoyed the game but we did find that the design of the maze is quite limited design due to the limit of clamps and string. I do think this is a fun and challenging game for children to explore and plan their route. The quality of the clamps are well made and it should last for a while. My children accidentally knocked the clamps off and it withstood the impact on the hard floor without a scratch. I do wish they could have included more clamps for this game, or maybe have it as an additional accessory pack. It is available to buy in good stores and Amazon.
