Melon, Pear & Ginger Spritzer

4 June 2015 by Eileen

I am not a fitness fanatic nor a vegetarian! But green juicing is no longer just for them. Green juices are great if you are keen to improve your overall health, well-being and physical appearance as well as helping to reduce your weight in a controlled diet.

I have recently come across the Clean & Green book from Parragon. I love the sound of the book and look forward to trying many of the recipes.

Melon, Pear & Ginger Spritzer

Clean & Green was published by Parragon on 1st April 2015 and it is available to buy from The Works and Amazon. There are recipes for soups, green juices, smoothies and even shots! The book is split into four chapters with recipes designed for Cleanse, Glow, Detox and Soothe.

clean & green contents

To start me off, I have chosen the Melon, Pear & Ginger Spritzer recipe which is in the Cleanse chapter. I already had all the necessary ingredients and this is so easy to make. My juice didn’t turn out too green as I had peeled away the pear’s skin. I am not a big fan of skin! Also instead of using sparkling mineral water, I used my Sodastream to make fizzy water! There’s a gentle heat from the ginger and it’s packed full of natural sweetness. It is a very light drink. If you prefer less heat, then reduce the amount of ginger in it.

melon, pear & ginger spritzer recipe

Ingredients:

  • ½ Honeydew melon, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 1 cm piece fresh ginger
  • 1 Pear, halved
  • 125 ml sparkling mineral water, chilled
  • Small handful ice (optional)

Method:

  1. Feed the melon, ginger and pear through a juicer
  2. Half-fill a glass of ice, if using, then pour in the juice
  3. Top up with the sparkling mineral water and serve immediately

The book also explains to you the different use of nutrient ingredients, choosing the right equipment and tips. The book is definitely useful but it is not for everyone. If green puts you off, this is definitely not for you. If you like ingredients like celery, avocado, spinach, there are so many ways to use them! Now I’m off to make more green juices to get a good dose of essential vitamins, antioxidants and minerals!

Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher for free.
