Japanese Surprise Box Unwrapped

31 May 2015 by Eileen

My son has been watching quite a lot of video on YouTube and one of the videos he saw was about unwrapping a food box and trying out the snacks in it. So he asked my sister who happened to be working in Japan at the time to make him a box.

I asked her to get us a small box of candies and I was so surprised to receive a huge box of Japanese goodies! Some of them are my favourites too! I have been to Japan three times for holidays and I am totally in love with the place and their cute ‘kawaii’ foods/snacks. They place emphasis on the emotive packaging and pay extra attention to detail. It makes the food so appealing!

There were more than 20 items in this box so I had split them into three categories: chocolates, sweets/candies and biscuits/snacks.

All these items were from Hokkaido and Tokyo where my sister went for her work. Anyway, my son and I had made these three food testing videos on his request! It is his first time doing this, so he is not very skilful at it. Hopefully in the near future, he will be able to express himself with a greater range of vocabulary!

These are his Japanese surprise box vlogs!

Next time, if you travel in Japan, do look out for these unique and tasty snacks! But I would definitely give the Cream Cheese Kit Kat a miss! The rest were great! Thanks to my sister for sending us this fantastic food parcel from Japan!

My partner always gets some Japanese sweets and snacks at Christmas – I love the fruit Kit Kats, the Raspberry is gorgeous. We had no idea the green one was redbean!! 😀

I don’t think I’ve ever tried any Japanese snacks! It looks like such a bright and fun box of goodies.
