Breville Blend Active Review

9 December 2014 by Eileen

Recently, I tried out the Breville Blend Active to make delicious and nutritious smoothies for my family. I have to say I am very impressed with it being so easy to use and would highly recommend it to anyone. With the bottles as the main body, it is easy to turn the right way up, pop on the lid and bring out. It is also very easy to clean which is a plus point! I hate washing my old blender which is bulky and takes up a lot of kitchen space.

Inside the box, it comes with:

  • Motor unit
  • Blade
  • 600 ml Sport bottles with lids x 2
  • 300 ml Sport bottles with lids x 2

The striking green with grey and white motor unit is very lightweight and doesn’t take up too much of kitchen counter top space. There is only one button with one speed (300 watts) to operate which is to blend the items inside the bottle. The instructions reminds you to remember not to continuously blend for more than 30 seconds without giving it a rest period of one minute. The blade is quite powerful that you only need a few seconds to blend the ingredients.

Each bottle has clearly marked measurements. The blade fits onto the bottle securely by twisting it onto the top of the bottle and in turn, is place onto the motor unit.

The ergonomically designed bottles are made from Eastman Tritan Copolyster which is very durable and lightweight. They are also BPA free, impact & shatter resistant, odour, taste and stain resistant. The lids come with a wide spout for thick shakes and smoothies.

I love that it comes with so many bottles which means I could make one for each family members. It is so portable and fit in the car or bike cup holders. The only downside is the lid which is not child friendly. My children (5 and 7 years old) find it hard to open the lids as they are quite tight. I have no problem opening the lid. I love that it create a super seal leak proof but they are just not for younger children who are not incomplete to open it.

I love how compact this Blend Active is. It is small but mighty! We have used it to make different type of smoothies and the smoothies are very smooth to drink. I also made iced smoothie lollipops for my children. Once blended, simply pour out from the spout into a lollipop mould. Freeze it overnight and serve it immediately after taking it out.

This blender can also crush ice. For the best result and to prevent possible damage to the blades, always add a small amount of liquid to the ice before processing.

This definitely a winner in our family! Now I can easily blend individual smoothies and keep them conveniently in the fridge for my family. Each will have their own favourite smoothie recipes and it saves me from washing the blender again and again. Breville Blend Active is very affordable and not only great for family but for individuals who love to have smoothies on the go. They are available in good shops and also amazon.
