Summer Berries Smoothie in Breville Pro Blender

19 August 2015 by Eileen 2 Comments

What’s great about summer is that you get to eat the most delicious and fresh berries on your door step! If you are heading outdoors, whether for camping, to a music festival, or to your local park, why not make this yummy delicious Summer Berries Smoothie. This recipe only uses a few ingredients and it will definitely give you a boost!

Ingredients:

  • Handful of frozen berries
  • Handful of watermelon
  • ½ banana
  • 40ml of Greek Yoghurt

Blend it with the Breville Pro Blender for a few seconds! Voilà! This is such a simple to make and healthy smoothie that counts towards your five-a-day!

I have previously reviewed the Blend-Active and now they have revamped it with a totally different look! This Breville Pro Blender comes in a black gloss finish with a brand new design to the bottle using a non-slip grip. It also has a matching neoprene sleeve which means you can keep your on-the-go smoothies chilled for longer.

Beside the new look, it also comes with a protective blade cover which is designed for use with herbs, nuts or cereals etc. Now I can use it to blend nuts for all sorts of cake recipes and even for using in my salads!

Inside the box, it comes with:

  • Motor unit
  • Blade
  • Blade cover
  • 500 ml bottle with lid
  • Neoprene sleeve

The elegant looking blender is very sturdy and doesn’t take up too much kitchen counter top space. There is only one button with one speed (300 watts), which is the same as Blend-Active. The instructions reminds you to remember not to continuously blend for more than 60 seconds without giving it a rest period of one minute. In fact, the blade is powerful enough that I find you only need a few seconds to blend the ingredients.

The blade fits onto the bottle/blade cover securely by twisting it onto the top of the bottle and in turn, is placed onto the motor unit. This blender can also crush ice. For best results and to prevent possible damage to the blades, always add a small amount of liquid to the ice before processing.

The bottle is made from Eastman Tritan Copolyester which is very durable and lightweight. It is also BPA free, shatter proof, odour and taste resistant. The tight sealed lid comes with a wide spout for thick shakes and smoothies. I love that the lid is super seal leak proof and feels very secure. When on the go, it is very portable and fits in the car or to bike bottle holders.

If you asked me which one to choose: Blend-Active or Blend-Active Pro Blender. I would definitely choose the Pro Blender – besides the more elegant looking gloss finish of the blender, it also comes with the function to grind herbs/nuts which is really useful for me! They are available now from the Breville website, good shops and also Amazon.
