What to do with your spare time in your golden years?

17 November 2014 by Eileen

What to do with your spare time in your golden years? This is the question I often asked myself when I was in my 20s as I would dream of retiring and enjoying life. Now after having children, my thoughts are around what the children will make of themselves and what the future holds for all of us.

what to do with your spare time

So during my spare time in my golden years, I want to:

  1. Travel around Britain

Get a cheap caravan and drive around one location each month and spend time with friends. Maybe even join the English Heritage to catch up on all the various attractions that are not so geared towards young children.

  1. Gentle Sports

Go to the gym or swim once a week to keep myself healthy. Or take up a new exercise like Tai Chi or maybe learn how to waltz!

  1. Michelin Starred Restaurants

I love tasting the best food so I would love to tour Britain to find the Michelin Starred restaurants to have a meal with my husband.

  1. Improving my skill set

There are so many things that I have had no chance to learn and with the free time I would be able to focus my energies towards improving skills or maybe learn something different to keep my brain sharp.

  1. Looking after grandchildren

I always see the joy in my mum’s face whenever she sees my children and I can completely understand why! She loves my children unconditionally and wishes to cuddle them up like how she used to cuddle me when I was young.

  1. Gardening

I am not enjoying gardening at the moment as I have too many children’s toys in my garden. In my golden years, I could dedicate more time to making the garden my own, planting beautiful flowers and maybe building myself a pond/water feature!

What do you think you would like to do in your golden years?
