This is the Horrid Henry’s 100th book in the phenomenally popular Early Reader series, published during Henry’s 20th anniversary year! It is a book written by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. It was released on 23rd October 2014 and published by Orion Books. This is the red Early Reader book which is the next step onto the reading journey.
The book is paperback containing about 80 pages in total and there are six chapters. The font comes in one consistent size. Mr K who is aged 6 is able to read the words and managed to read the whole book within a sitting. Mr K finds it nicely challenging with a good mix of long and short words which should be easy to read by school children. Each page contains a good balance of sentences with colour illustrations.
This story is about Horrid Henry’s Christmas lunch. As usual, Horrid Henry was being mean to Peter and the rest of the family. He was looking forward to receiving his favourite Christmas toys wish list like Terminator Gladiator fighting kit and Zapatron Hip-Hop dinosaur. But all he got were boring calendar, stationery, gloves and other presents.
When all his relatives come to his house for a meal, one disaster leads to another. So many horrible things happen and in the end, Horrid Henry gets what he wanted for his dinner, pizzas! This story is about disaster which might actually happen during Christmas! I believe it does happen in some households! Once again, this is a very well written story by Francesca. I would recommend this book to any older children who loves Horrid Henry.
It is available to buy in good bookshops and Amazon.
