Batman Cake

19 November 2014 by Eileen

Last weekend was my son’s birthday and just days before, he requested to have a batman cake for his birthday. So I thought long and hard. I did google it but I found that they are just too difficult for me to even attempt it. So I opted for a small and simple Batman cake that only required minimal effort. It still took me over 3 hours.

Batman Cake

Thanks to Happy Egg Co for their big and yummy eggs to make my son’s chocolate cake. I also bought three different icing colours: black, yellow and white. To cut the bat’s mould, I used the paper cutting pattern to cut the shape out using a small sharp knife.

After I baked the cake, I left it to cool and trim off the uneven top. I decided to make a small cake – if you prefer you could bake another layer and put it on top. Roll out the yellow icing using the rolling pin coated with icing sugar. Drape the yellow icing on the cake and trim any excess icing on the side. Place the bats on the yellow icing. To get the bats to stick on the icing, you could use edible glue or buttercream icing. I then rolled yellow and black balls to decorate around the cake. Finally, I used the white icing to cut out a seven.

So this is my Batman Cake for my son! I also made a Spider-Man cupcakes which I will share on my next post.

Disclosure: We have received a voucher for the eggs, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

Looks brilliant – don’t ever doubt your own ability! Those bats are a work of art as I know its difficult to cut out with a knife neatly. Tip for you, don’t cut off the uneven top if you can get away with it – just turn the cake upside down before icing. Thanks lovely for being such a massive part of #Bakeoftheweek xxx
