Mike the Knight: Journey to Dragon Mountain

17 September 2014 by Eileen

Last week, we were really fortunate to get invited to attend the launch event for the Mike the Knight: Journey to Dragon Mountain DVD at Warwick Castle. We set off and reached the castle within 45 minutes from our home.

We all settled in soon and watched the movie while eating jam tarts! Mr K and Ms C love Mike the Knight and have been watching the show since young. Mr K would always pretend to be Mike and Ms C would be Evie!

The story is about the journey to Dragon Mountain. When the King returns from faraway lands, he discovers that the Vikings have stolen a treasured crystal jewel from the dragon of Dragon Mountain. It is the King’s mission to return the jewel and Mike’s job to help him. The King, Mike and Evie form “Team Family Glendragon” and soon find themselves on an epic quest filled with dangerous obstacles from meddlesome gargoyles to giant dragons! It comes with a happy ending as not only is the stolen jewel returned, someone finds their long lost parents and an addition sibling!

Both of them were enjoying watching the 60 minute movie. This is slightly longer than the usual episodes on TV.

The DVD was out on Monday the 15th September 2014 with an RRP £12.99. It is available to buy online at www.amazon.co.uk and in all good retailers nationwide. To find out more about Mike the Knight visit the website www.miketheknight.com

Later we went to have our photo taken with Mike the Knight and also Dragon! Mr K was taking his own selfie using my Samsung Galaxy Zoom with them!

Then we walked up to Pageant Playground which is situated near the entrance. This must be newly opened as we didn’t see it last year when we went. There is a mini-fortress with slides, walkways and swings, which is perfect for both my children! They were both so happy climbing and swinging while Mr C and I were chilling on the picnic table. Unbelievable that we were there for 1.5 hours! They absolutely loved it!

We then we walked around the castle and climbed into Guy’s tower and across Caesar’s Tower. I was so breathless by the time I climbed up to the top but the vista is breathtaking. I would not recommended them for younger children as the steps are very steep and the staircase is a narrow spiral. It is worth going up there if you can though!

Later, both children tried archery which we paid £5 for for 12 arrows. They both enjoyed it. This is a great experience for them to try.

Before we went home, we watched the Trebuchet show which is a large siege weapon measuring 18 metres tall. It took them a while to build up the atmosphere before they launched the fireball. It was pretty spectacular.

Thanks to Hit Entertainment and Warwick Castle for this great family day out!

Disclosure: We were provided family tickets to visit the castle and not asked to blog about it. Professional images used with permission.

That looks an amazing day out. I ought to take the boys to Warwick castle. The film sounds good and must have been good to meet Mike at the castle.

I love the look of Warwick castle and I can quite see why the children spent so long in the playground. What a perfect follow up to fitting indoors watching a film. A great family day all round. Thank you for sharing with me on country Kids.
