Anthony Anteater likes to eat. But so do the hungry ants that have a habit of carrying away his food. Poor Anthony is at his wits’ end, until he has the clever idea of taking his breakfast somewhere those pesky ants cannot follow but something happens! Luckily the ants help rescue him from the big hungry bear. The ants learn that sharing is for the best and now they share their food too.
This is quite a small book which is great for early readers for reception to year 1. My six year old son was able to read them well. There are a few words that my five year old daughter was unable to pronounce such as the bigger words like sneaky, perfect etc. The story is quite simple but carries two strong messages of unusual friendships and sharing. It’s curious that Anthony is an anteater and yet he didn’t eat the ants! Lucky ants! This is a great book to read together!
