NOMAD Chargekey & Chargecard Review

17 April 2014 by Eileen

Do you like to travel light? Or hate finding your long and messy USB cable tangled inside the bag?  You might like this NOMAD Chargekey & Chargecard.  They are the world’s smallest and most portable USB cables.

NOMAD Chargekey & Chargecard

ChargeKey is a key-shaped smartphone cable that fits onto your keychain.  It works like your normal cable for charging and syncing your phone – plug one end into a USB port and the other end into your mobile device.  It come in two cable versions:

  1. Lightning – It works with iPhone 5/5s/5c, Lightning iPad and iPad Mini.
  2. Micro USB – It works with Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, LG, Motorola, Kindle and more.

I have the Micro USB and it works well with my Sony Xperia while connected to my laptop.  It is pretty easy to connect it.  I love how handy it is.  Now I can use this to charge my laptop on the go without taking my phone charger out.  I guess the disadvantage is dust might get onto the pin or the exposed elements might get scratched by keys.  Otherwise, it is fantastic!

ChargeCard is a thin smartphone cable that’s designed to fit into even the slimmest wallet.  Again it works the same as ChargeKey.  It comes in two cable versions:

  1. Lightning – It works with iPhone 5/5s/5c, Lightning iPad and iPad Mini.
  2. Micro USB – It works with Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, LG, Motorola, Kindle and more.

Initially, I found it a little difficult to try to release the cable from the card for fear of breaking the card.  However, after that first time, it was a lot easier.

I have the lightning version but it didn’t charge with my 4th generation iPad with my laptop.  It did allow me to do data transfers when connected to a laptop.  It also does work when I connect the ChargeCard with my iPad charger to my iPad.  I think that maybe it is not compatible with my 4th generation iPad as already mention above that my iPad version is not included in the range.

I like both items as they are small, neat and easy to carry it with my keychain or wallet.  So whenever I forget to bring my charging cable, I have a backup!  They costs £22 each with free delivery at Amazon.  They would make a great gift too!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

I was looking at getting these, wasn’t too sure if the lightening connector would work properly but have found out that is does. Good review.

These look great. My phones forever running out of charge, so this is definitely an option I’ll be looking into x
