VARTA Indestructible Torch review

16 February 2014 by Eileen

I have not seen Mr C get so excited before as I was handing him the torch! He is like a school boy in a sweet shop! He couldn’t wait to test out the VARTA indestructible torch the moment it landed in his hands! He swiftly put in two AA batteries (included) and turned it on. The 1 watt LED light is very strong and bright. He was very impressed with the robust, nice looking torch. The on/off button can that found on the end of the torch and is easy to press. The head and rear cover of the Indestructible range is made of a resilient rubber to absorb the strongest shocks, while a high-grade aircraft aluminium-titanium alloy gives an extra-tough housing which is also resistant to sprayed water. It is robust enough to withstand a drop of up to nine metres – the height of a three storey building or two double decker buses.

The torch have two light modes: 100 lumens and an energy saver mode, which can reduce the lumen output to 18 and increase battery run time by up to eight times. The modes alternate as you cycle through on-off-on etc.

We were very impressed with the design, top-notch quality of the materials, and of course the power of the torch. It is very bright and allows you to see clearly in the dark. I would highly recommend it. It is compact to keep it in the car, camping or any other occasion. Personally, I have not dropped it from a height nor run a car over it but from its robust body, you can tell it is very well made.

The right output is 170 Lumen on high, and 20 on low. ANSI verified values.

I have a torch geek partner and I think even he would be impressed by this one. It’s funny how men get excited over this stuff!

In the recent bad weather, I have kept my phone next to me fully charged because that’s the only torch I know works in our house

Looks great, we could do with a decent torch, we always have to borrow the children’s when we need one.
