Pop Chef: Push, Pop & Eat review

16 February 2014 by Eileen

Character Online have brought out a new product called Pop Chef that allows you and your kids to create all sorts of edible fun shapes from your favourite foods.  It turns fruits, vegetables and sandwiches into masterpieces.  It can also be used to make cute cookie shapes or cake decorations!

Pop Chef Push, Pop & Eat review
Pop Chef Push, Pop & Eat reviewInside the box, it comes with:

  • 1 bulb
  • 6 fun shape cutters (Butterfly, Flower, Sun, Heart, Circle, Star)
  • 25 bamboo skewers
  • Recipe booklet
  • Plastic stick

I used it on jelly, melon, cakes, sandwiches and cheese. They are definitely great for Bento lunch boxes, parties and any other special occasions. Each item of food looks so mini and adorable on the plate when cut out!

It is very simple to assemble the bulb and the stem by turn and clip. They suggest to use food of up to 2.5cm thick. If food gets stuck inside the cutter, remove the cutter from the stem and use the plastic stick to push out through the air hole.

The heart, circle and star cutters comes in a cylinder shape. I personally like them as they able to fill in thicker food and with less frilling. The flower, sun and butterfly cutters are not as easy to hold with the big bulb.

I would definitely recommend them as they are easy to use by children and adults. My 4 year old daughter does need help to get the food out once she has cut it, but my son finds it easy to control the bulb. The Pop Chef is great value at RRP £9.99. They are unlike those normal cookie cutters that might leave an imprint on their tiny palm.  The bulb is soft to touch and so easy to push the food out from the cutter by squeezing the bulb.

That looks like so much fun and a great way to get kids to experiment in the kitchen too.

I love the idea of these, so effective and easy to use and pretty much mess free too. Great idea!

What a great idea, and great fun for kids parties to decorate the plates!
