GOOD Hemp Products Review

18 January 2014 by Eileen 8 Comments

I was so excited when I was introduce to these GOOD Hemp Products.  We always love to try new food products and they are produced in Britain – Devon in fact!  They produce products from hemp seeds including GOOD OIL, a 100% cold-pressed hemp seed oil, GOOD HEMP Milk alternative, and GOOD SEED which are shelled hemp seeds.  All of their products are 100% natural and are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and contain no allergens.
I have received these three products for review and this is what I think of them:
The GOOD OIL can be used in exactly the same way as any other cooking oil, it is just much healthier.  It contains half the saturated fat of olive oil and also contains 25 times more Omega 3.  Just one tablespoon of GOOD OIL contains 96% of an adult’s recommended daily Omega 3 intake.  This makes it great for growing kids.  They also can be use in dressing salads, sauces, grilling, stir frying and roasting vegetables.  It smells and tastes quite nutty.  It has a non-drip spout that makes pouring easy to control.
I used the oil to cook Stir-Fry Chicken with Chinese Leaf.  Just a little drop of oil in a heated pan.  My chicken was already marinated.  I always use a little cornflour to coat the chicken as it helps make the chicken meat more tender.  Also I prefer to to use chicken breast as it has less fat.  After coated with cornflour, the rest of the marinade was a tablespoon of sesame oil, light soya sauce and pepper.
So, once the oil is hot, put in chopped garlic and stir for a few seconds before putting the chicken.  When the chicken is half cooked, place in chopped Chinese leaf and cover the wok with a lid.  Once the Chinese leaf looks soft, pour in oyster sauce and stir.  If you prefer to have a thicker sauce, add cornflour.  Then I added the Italian herbs on the top.
The GOOD SEED comes in four flavours and can easily be sprinkled over any dish or eat as a snack.  There are four types: Shelled Hemp, Italian Herbs, Asian Spices and Sweet Cinnamon.  They are high in protein, fibre and also Omega 3.  They add a delicious nutty flavour and really are a superfood!  Once open, consume within 6 weeks and keep it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
I used the GOOD seed to make Oven Cajun Chicken nuggets.  You will need: diced chicken, eggs, Cajun powder and GOOD seed Italian herbs
Beat the egg and add in Cajun powder.  Coat the diced chicken with the egg and dip it with the seeds.  Pop it in the oven set to 160 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes.  Turn the chicken over in between.
The seeds are very crispy outside and have a nicely roasted flavour.  I love this as it is so simple to cook.
If you are sick of eating plain rice, why not mix it with Good seeds!  They taste delicious mixed in with rice.
GOOD HEMP is great in tea and coffee, cereal or simply as a refreshing drink – One 250ml glass gives 50% of the omega 3 we need each day.  It’s low in saturated fat, easy to digest and cholesterol, soya and dairy free. Mr C is lactose intolerance and this will be a great alternative for him!  It is smooth and thin in consistency with a hint of natural sweetness – nicer than a soya milk in my opinion.  We used it to make smoothies instead of using our usual cow milk.
I would highly recommend them if you are looking for healthy alternatives.  They are available from Holland & Barrett, Waitrose, Tesco, Ocado and good local health food stores nationwide.
Disclosure: We have received the products to do an honest review.
