This half term we were invited to a fantastic and rare opportunity to stay overnight at the animal park and experience the atmosphere and sounds of the wild as the sun goes down. Of course, if you like what you read below, you are able to book this experience with Paradise Wildlife Park. Snooze at the Zoo Experience also includes a sumptuous continental style breakfast in Tiger Treetops and a special hands on tour of the zoo.
Paradise Wildlife Park is a family-run animal park located in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire, England. It took us over 2 hours to drive there. They are situated 20 miles North of London, just off the A10 near to junction 25 of the M25. They do offer a minibus service from and to Broxbourne Train Station which costs you £1 or free for under 2 years if you don’t drive.
We checked in on Friday morning where the receptionist served us with drinks and biscuits before Carly showed us to our Zebra room. Due to the location of the apartments, they are not suitable for pets or for people with physical disabilities that prohibit them from climbing stairs.
The Zebra Suite which can sleep up to 8 and comprises of 1 x double and 1 x twin bedroom plus 2 double sofa beds. It comes with complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee and biscuits. Each room comes with a flat screen television. This is our Zebra room tour video. My children were so excited with the room that their voices are in the background. https://youtu.be/1eF2K83Nvto
We then head towards the zoo where there is an outdoor play area, animal talks, feeding the animals etc. There is also a keeper for a day experience, feed a big cat or have a wild animal photography tour – just ask the counter for more information. We also played a round of Safari Golf on a fun 18 hole course and rode on the Woodland Railway. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/XQosmriX3Lg
This VIP package also included free complimentary cinema tickets to Cineworld Enfield. So we took this chance to drive into town to catch a movie: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 which inspired Mr K to design his own fruit: Mr Pear. The next morning, we enjoyed ourselves with a sumptuous continental style breakfast whilst taking in the breathtaking view of the tigers from Tiger Treetops restaurant. It was amazing and we were all very excited! We also very pleased with the breakfast. It is very well presented and came with different varieties of food: white and brown bread, various types of cheese and cured meats, juices, hot beverages, fruits, pastries and cereals.
After our breakfast, we were greeted by Calum who is one of the friendly zoo keepers. He gave us a personal guided tour around the animal park. We also got to hold and touch some of the animals inside the tour room. We learnt that these animals are very well looked after and they are on a rotation basis.Later, we went to Birds of Paradise where we walked through the Lorikeet enclosure. There must have been over 20 of them in the enclosure where we fed them nectar. They are quite bold and cheeky, landing on our heads, pecking our hair to make a nest. Ms C had an unfortunate experience by getting bird poop on her hair. She was not aware of it. Later, we had to quickly use baby wipes to clean her up! Naughty little birds! I would recommend to wear a waterproof hooded jacket if you go and feed them.
After the end of the guided tour, we went around to take more photos with the animals and feed them. It was rare and fabulous experience which we’ll never forget. We got to see and touch the animals and both our children were very excited to learn about the animals. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor play areas too. This is a great experience that I would recommend to others. We had a great couple of days out! For bookings & more information please call 01992 470490 ext 236 or email snooze@pwpark.com.
