Wordsearch Junior is based on the same clever ‘turntable’ design of the original Classic Wordsearch! game, and is easily set up for play. It is suitable for aged four and above for two to four players. It comes with 9 puzzle cards, 1 game board base, 1 ring, 1 transparent playing disc, 35 marking chips of red, green, yellow and blue and 1 instruction manual.
The nine double-sided puzzle discs have three different learning levels:
- Blue puzzles (Easy) – Finding picture patterns. Help them to developing those crucial early recognition and reasoning skills, such as sequencing and spatial awareness.
- Red puzzles (Medium) – Finding words with picture hints prepares them for the green word-only cards.
- Green puzzles (Difficult) – Finding words. They learn to look for consonant clusters and vowel combinations. This will improve their reading skills.
The objective of the games is to find the most words or pictures and therefore to cover them with your colour chips. The person with the most chips of their colour on the board wins. Fixing the puzzles card with the disc and ring on the board base is very straightforward. We started from playing with the blue puzzles cards and slowly we moved on to red. It took a while for both my children to spot the pictures and words. Once they got the hang of how to look for the pictures/words, they were finding them easily. It’s a race against each other so they have to be quick before the other person finds it! The chips are easy to place on the transparent disc. This will definitely help them to improve their language, recognition, pattern and reasoning skills while enriching their vocabulary through exposure to images, letters and words. Both of them enjoy it.
