We were fortunate to win family tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters through The Mad House’s giveaway. I am a basketball fan and I really glad to have a chance to see this amazing basketball team – The Harlem Globetrotters. It was at the LG Arena, Birmingham. It was extremely busy when we arrived. Before the game started we walked around the LG exhibition stand and tested their 3D TVs. We also walked around to see the merchandise store. Their jerseys are really expensive, we can only afford to buy their basketball but unfortunately they had sold out.
Both of my children had not watched or played basketball before so this was very new to them. Initially, they were very keen and the mascot was being the joker and warming up the crowd. We were singing and dancing along. All the players showed great energy and were very comical. They displayed fantastic basketball skills and were very entertaining. Those who had court side seats were the lucky ones. They picked out audience members to participate in the games and had random players sit on their laps and throw water at them.
Our seats were also great. We were at the front row of one of the blocks, except for the first 15 minutes. A group of four unashamedly took our seats until the steward redirected them to their actual seats – cheeky! By half time, Ms C got tired and bored of it as she did not get it. Mr K followed along but needed a fair bit of explanation. Overall, this was a great experience and we all enjoyed it. I would highly recommend to anyone whether they are a big fan of basketball or not, because it is entertaining and it’s easy to appreciate the talent of these guys. Money well spent!
At the LG Arena, I would offer two tips of advise:
1) any camera lens more than 6 inches are not allowed.
2) if you can avoid taking a pushchair, I would advise leaving it behind as the arena doesn’t really have anywhere to park the pushchairs that I could see.
