Quick & Easy Midweek Roast Cheats

Crispy roast potatoes, tender meat, and a generous serving of gravy: who doesn’t love a roast dinner, especially at this time of year? But slow-roasting a big joint of lamb or pork can take half the evening, and you end up using so many pots and pans to cook everything, making a mountain of washing-up.

However, I’ve recently discovered a few simple hacks that make it easier and quicker to cook a roast dinner. Have a read and test them out for yourself.

SpudFest at National Adventure Farm

A little while ago, I took my children to visit National Adventure Farm to make a scarecrow. We are no strangers to the farm as we are only 30 minutes away, driving up the A38, and is located in Burton upon Trent, within an hour drive from Stafford, Stoke, Nottingham, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester etc. There is plenty of free parking plus disabled parking right at their entrance.

A big congrats to them for breaking the Guinness World record for the largest display of scarecrows! This month is SpudFest. They have planted half an acre with over 11,000 potato plants which should produce up to 10 tons of spuds. Each weekend this September when you visit with your child, they will be given a bag to fill up with as many potatoes as the bag can take! It was awesome!

Mr K was having a lot of fun digging while Ms C was happy to pick up those potatoes on the soil that were already pre-dug. This was such a great life experience for children to learn about agriculture and how the potatoes grow.
