Should I let my 5 years old stay at his friend’s birthday by himself?

Yesterday, as we are getting ready to go to Mr K’s classmate’s party, he told us that he did not want us at the party as he is a big boy now. We know that some parents leave their child as young as 3 years old at a birthday party but we were still shocked to hear that.
So we asked him a couple of questions:
1. If a stranger offered to give you sweets or food, would you follow him out?
2. If your friends decide to go out to play, would you follow? If not, how do you tell them?
3. Would you let a stranger touch you?
He had answered his questions confidently. He had passed his test. But before we allowed him to be left at the party, he was given a set rules to follow and they were:
He is not allowed to go out by himself to the toilet or outside the party venue.
He must tell the assigned parents/ birthday boy’s parent if he need something or where he is going.
As this is our first time, letting him to be by himself, we was quite nervous about it. Luckily, I had a few mums who I always talk to who stayed at the party who were happy to keep an eye on him.
Soon after, we went to pick him up and he told me that they had also sung a birthday song for him as he shared the same birthday as the birthday boy. It was very thoughtful of them!
Mr K was spoilt and had a lot of fun on his birthday. These are all the Spider-man presents he received:

A mini birthday party for Mr K

This morning, K got so excited when he saw his birthday present lying next to him! It is a playmobil pirate ship that he always wanted.
Today, it was a non-uniform day at his school to celebrate Children In Need. Everyone dressed up with mad hair and a moustache. Mr K didn’t feel inclined to dress up though. His classmate F also shares the same birthday as Mr K. What a surprise! Two best mates sharing the same birthday. All his classmates were each given a bag of sweeties from Mr K after school.
Since my sister flew over during half term to take him to Disneyland, we decided not to throw a birthday party for him at all. We always had a small celebration amongst ourselves. So last week, we bought him a ready-made spider-man cake from the supermarket. He was so excited that he started counting down the number of sleeps to his birthday.
We didn’t really want to spoilt him by having a party but after much thought, I decided to have a mini party at Mcdonald’s with our close friends. I was so busy that I forgot to make party bags for the children. Luckily, I had a pack of mini popagami. I quickly made it while we were inside the Mcdonald’s and popped a lollipop inside it.

We had a great time with our friends and he is so blessed to be around so many best friends.
Happy 5th birthday to my son, Mr K!

A Birthday Party at Ash End Farm

August is not just school holidays for us, it is also the busiest time for birthday parties. I have over 20 friends with birthdays in August! Luckily, we only had two parties to attend.
Today, we went to Ash End House Childrens Farm for I’s 2nd Nursery Rhyme birthday party. We all gathered at the outdoor play area for the meeting point. The weather was gorgeous and the children played happily. Once everyone turned up, the birthday guide who was a lovely young lady, led us to the goat building. She had a quick chat with the children about what to do and what not to do before they got to feed the hungry goats! The children were so excited as they not only feed the animals, they also get to stroke them.
