Horrid Henry’s Animals is a book written by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. It was released on 13th February 2014 and published by Orion Books. This is the seventh book of horrid henry’s factbook. The other six titles are: Bugs; Dinosaur; Bodies; King and Queen; Food; and Sports.
The book is paperback containing about 80 pages with 15 different topics. The font comes in various sizes with some fonts in bold. It comes with black and white illustrations.
This book is bursting with weird facts and freaky trivia and is the perfect guide to everything a Horrid Henry fan has ever wanted to know about animals. It tells you about the animals that come in five families: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. It explains it in simple and easy to understand words.
Mr K who is 6 years old finds it quite hard to understand some of the facts and how they work. I think that this is a book more suited for older children from 8 years old where they are more independent and have learnt some facts about different animals already.
This book is definitely a winner for children who loves to learn. It is great for older children who are eager to learn more facts about animals. It helps to boost their general knowledge. This is also great to read in car journeys for children to learn a fact a day! The only complaint/enhancement idea is that I would love this book to come with photos or colour illustrations for children to have a better appreciation of some of the animals.
