Blossom magazine searches young story writer

10 February 2014 by Eileen

Blossom first came out in May 2013 published by Immediate Media and is aimed at 4 – 7 year old girls.  This is to fill a gap in the market for little girls who love all things pink and sparkly, but offers quality educational content that support all seven areas of the Early Years Curriculum. It features its own four girl characters: Lily, Rose, Daisy and Violet alongside popular children’s book, TV and toy characters.  Inside this issue, it comes with story time, learn to count, colouring, learn to draw and much more.

Blossom Magazine Cover

This month, Blossom is teaming with World Book Day to find the next little story teller. If you have a talented story teller at home, take a look at page 12 in the February issue to see how to enter. The winner will receive a keepsake storybook copy of their story, a visit to their school from Princess Poppy author, Janey Jones, a book bundle for them and their school library from Random House. Also don’t forget to include each of the Blossom girls in the story. The closing date is 8 March 2014 at 11.59pm. So don’t wait too long!  Mr K is working on it as Ms C wasn’t that keen on making up her stories!

Ms C prefers to have fun with pasting the stickers, colouring and counting.  She loves the magazine as it has all her favourite princesses.  Ms C has a mild visual impairment and reading proves to be quite difficult for her at times. But the wording used in the magazine is in a good size font for her to read and there is plenty of space to draw and write.  Most of the activities are appropriate for her and I can see that this magazine is a little treat for her every month when we have a spare weekend to read it together. This is the first time we came across this magazine and we would recommend it to any little girls. I don’t think this is sexism or a biased magazine as this is only for girls.

Blossom magazine contents

Blossom is priced at £2.75 and comes with a gift.  It is available at all major retailers and independents around the UK (not on subscription).

Kia 5, has just stopped asking for the Peppa Pig magazine and when I look to get her others they all seem to be too grown up for her but this on looks perfect. I will have to watch out for it.

This looks great. I have noticed there don’t seem to be that many magazines specifically for girls, lots for boys though!
