The Game of Things is a party game pack with 300 hilarious topic cards that provoke hilarious responses in a box. It is suitable for four players or more and for aged 14 and above. It can be played with younger children but they might need some help.
Inside this wooden box, it comes with 300 topic cards, response pad, score pad, 8 pencils and instructions. All the items were packed neatly in the plastic tray but I do find that the cards tend to move around the box and were in a mess when you slide open the cover. Also the box is made from wood and often drops wood shavings all over the place. The box has smooth surfaces all over but it could be better.
The objective of the game is to have fun and setting up is very straightforward. What you have to do is to pick a player to be the reader for the first round. This reader reads aloud a topic card. The players all write a response, fold up the slip of paper and turn it in to the reader, who reads them aloud once and then a second time. There are no correct answers! So you may write whatever you please, from one word to as many sentences that you can fit on your slip of paper. Do note that the paper is quite small! Also try to get everyone to use capital letters so that it is not easy to guess who wrote it.
The player to the left of the reader has to guess who wrote which response. This is all done from memory, without benefit of taking notes or having the responses read again.
If the guesser is correct, he or she continues guessing until incorrect, at which time the player to his/her left tries guessing. Players whose responses were correctly identified are eliminated and cannot make guesses. The round ends when one player has not been matched to a response. So it is best to play with a big group of people to get everyone guessing!
To score the game, you will get awarded 1 point for each correct guess and 6 points to the person who successfully avoided detection. The job of reader passes to the left. When everyone has been reader once, the game ends or you can decide when you want to stop. The player with the highest score wins.
I like the concept of this game and it is a party game that can played over and over again with big groups of people. This game is available to buy from The Game of Things or on Amazon.
