Finding Dory Dobble Review

24 June 2016 by Eileen

Are you all excited that Finding Dory is out in cinemas?  Now I just got my hands on this Finding Dory Dobble 5 in 1 family card game for 2 – 5 players.  It is suitable for aged 4 and above.  It consists of 30 cards, with 6 different images.  This game is available to buy from Esdevium store finder or on Amazon.

If you have played the classic version of Dobble Kids before, you will probably know that this is the same, except this is in Finding Dory images instead of the animals.  In this game, players compete with each other to find the one matching image between one card and another. Every card is unique and has only image in common with any other card in the deck. The match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card. Once a player finds the match, they shout it out before other players and either takes the card or places it somewhere else, depending on which mini-game they are playing.

Dobble has 5 mini-games:

  • The Rapids
  • The Coral Reef
  • The Waterfall
  • The Water Vortex
  • The Hermit Crab

The cards are thin, circular and easy to hold. The mini games are incredibly easy to play.  Players must have a keen eye and lightning reactions in order to be the first to spot the matching symbols.  The images come in various sizes making it quite hard to spot at times, especially the smaller ones, which makes this game so interesting!

As the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, it makes a great fun family game. The size of animal pictures are comfortable for my daughter who has a mild visual impairment to spot but at a slower pace.

The deck of cards comes well protected inside a small circular tin to keep them safe and makes it a perfect travel game you can take anywhere as it fits in your pocket! Even though the mini games are quick to complete, it is fun and keeps the children wanting to play more!
