Mr K is a very imaginative child who loves to invent little games and often comes up with lots of creative ideas. As a parent, we are always there to support and nurture him. So when we came across the BritMums Linky Challenge with Petits Filous, Mr K’s cogs started turning.
Petits Filous Magic Squares is a brand new range available in two delicious varieties, Strawberry & Vanilla flavour and Raspberry & Vanilla flavour. It comes with a unique quadrant shape of two distinctly different flavours. You can either taste one flavour at a time or totally mix it up. Petits Filous contains both calcium and vitamin D which helps build strong bones. They are available nationwide from April 2015 from Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda at RRP £1.89. We bought one for £1 in Tesco. My son loves it!
After seeing the squares, it gave Mr K an idea to make his own board game. This is not the first time he has made up his own board game. Last year, he made a Mummy Tummy Pyramid game and he was short-listed in the Young Games Inventor 2014 competition. Unfortunately, we didn’t get enough votes to make it through to the final.
Anyway, this is Mr K’s first draft for his Cops and Robbers board game. There are four rooms on the board game. One room will have the Gem that the robbers have to sneak through to get it before he gets caught by the cop.
He first drew it on a square paper and those coloured boxes are the wall. It resembles a maze. We played it and found a few areas for enhancement such as there was only one way in and there were no doors.
So he drew a second draft using a template I printed from a Word document to create the grid. He coloured it in and I saved the coloured walls on the file. Then we found a few other areas for improvement.
Now he has drawn yet another plan with a bigger scale. We still need to confirm all the rules and instructions. I won’t reveal it here just yet as we will want to enter this years Young Games again! Fingers crossed and hope we get short-listed again.
