In today’s digital world and busy lifestyles, there is so much cyberbullying and online information that it can be difficult to filter. Finding the right balance between giving children access to technology and keeping them safe online can feel overwhelming for many parents.
That is why services like Wingio immediately caught my attention. Wingio provides safe, pre-configured smartphones and tablets for children in the UK, built on reliable Samsung hardware. Unlike a standard tablet that requires hours of setup, app downloads, and parental lock adjustments, Wingio’s approach is very different. The device arrives ready to use straight out of the box, with safety features already activated. This is especially great for busy families and those who are not very tech-savvy.

First Impressions: The Wingio Samsung Tablet
I received the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 powered by Wingio for review. This is the starter tablet they recommend for children aged 3 to 7 years old. Wingio also offers three other options:
- Pro Tablet S10 for ages 5–10
- Beginner Phone – Galaxy 5G A Series for ages 7–13
- Phone – Galaxy 5G S Series for ages 10–16
All are offered at very competitive prices.
As mentioned above, the device arrived fully charged and ready to use.
More Than a Device: Wingio’s Parental Control Service
While the tablet itself is a high-quality Samsung device, the real value of Wingio lies in its parental control service. Wingio uses unbypassable controls designed to grow with your child, helping parents manage screen time without constant negotiations or technical headaches.

What Parents Can Control with the Wingio App
Through Wingio’s easy-to-use parent control app, parents can:
- Set and manage daily screen time
- Track their child’s location for added reassurance
- Filter web content automatically
- Block social media and unsafe content by default
What I appreciate most so far is that these controls can’t simply be switched off by a tech-savvy child. Everything is managed remotely through the parent app, making it far more secure than standard built-in parental settings.
Comparing Wingio to Google Family Link
Before using Wingio, we relied on Google Family Link. My daughter could see games on the device and send download requests. Each request would email me for approval, and if I missed the time window, it would not go through. This often resulted in repeated requests, which quickly became frustrating.
With Wingio, children are not allowed to browse freely on the device. Parents download age-appropriate games directly through the parent app. There is no access to social media apps such as X, Facebook, or Instagram, although WhatsApp can be installed for communication if needed. You can download YouTube Kids or YouTube, just set your restrictions.
Safe Digital Freedom for Children
Wingio aims to give children digital freedom within safe boundaries. Children can explore content safely while parents stay in control without monitoring every single action. For families looking for a balance between learning, entertainment, and safety, this approach feels very reassuring.
Using the Wingio Parent App
The app is easy to navigate both on a smartphone and via the website. Once limits are set in the parent app, the changes apply instantly on the child’s device with no delay.

The Dashboard provides an overview of:
- Device location
- Battery life
- Activity levels
- Most-used apps
Parents can also download apps, read reports, and manage settings from one central place.

Reports, Monitoring & Settings
Within the settings, parents can control daily device limits, location tracking, web monitoring, notification sounds, full device access, ring the device, and generate child activity reports.
Best of all, you can select Sleep mode, which turns off the device immediately to prevent children from using it.

Reports can be set to off, weekly, or monthly and are sent via email. They include daily screen time usage, day-by-day charts, category breakdowns, and the most-used applications.

Pricing & Subscription
The Wingio service comes with a monthly subscription of £4.90 (correct at the time of writing). It is currently available on Android only, but Wingio has stated that iOS support is coming soon. For the latest updates, it is best to check their official website.
Final Thoughts: Is Wingio Worth It?
Overall, the Wingio parent app is very easy to use and saves parents a significant amount of time when setting up a child-friendly device. There is no hassle — simply hand the device to your child, download approved apps, and manage website access as needed.
The web filtering and content restrictions are highly effective, making Wingio excellent value for money compared to setting up a tablet yourself. You can watch my video here: https://youtu.be/a-lDIrHb6ao
If you are a parent looking for a safer way to introduce technology to your child, Wingio is definitely one to consider.
