Throw Throw Burrito Extreme Review

4 August 2021 by Eileen

This summer holiday, we are so excited to receive this Throw Throw Burrito extreme outdoor edition, a dodgeball fight party card game to play. It comes with two huge inflatable burritos, 120 jumbo cards, six burrito bruises, one Fear Me badge and instructions.

They also have a regular version of this fun Throw Throw Burrito party game, but this outdoor version comes with everything jumbo-sized and water-resistant, which is great to play outdoors! It is suitable for two to six players and ages seven and above. It comes in a sturdy carrier box to bring to anywhere you want! I would recommend getting a decent foot/electric pump as you won’t want to inflate these colossal burritos by blowing! It took us nearly 20 minutes to get both inflated!

If you don’t want to read the instructions, why not watch this video which explains it to you. It is very simple! We didn’t even need a trial run before starting the game! Check out their website for details: https://www.explodingkittens.com/products/throw-throw-burrito-extreme-outdoor-edition

The goal of the game is to win two rounds by earning the most points by collecting 3-of-a-kind sets as fast as you can. Also, try not to get hit by the inflatable burritos during battles as you will receive a Burrito Bruise stamp.

This game is best played in a large area free from breakable items, like vases, lights or antiques as it can get raucous during battle. A large table is ideal for placing the cards.

Throw Throw Burrito Extreme cards

To play the game, shuffle the deck and deal out approximately 15 cards face down to each player as their Personal Draw Pile and place on their right. Each player should take the top five cards from their Personal Draw Piles and look at them.

Split the remaining cards into two piles and place them face down in the middle of the table within reach of all players. Now try to get three matching cards as quickly as you can by discarding cards in your hand (one at a time) and drawing new ones from your Personal Draw Pile.

Whenever someone has collected three matching Battle cards, put them in their Score Pile and yell the name of the battle: Brawl, War, or Duel. When a battle is declared, all other gameplay stops. We all love a battle! It’s super exciting when someone yells the battle as we have to quickly arm ourselves with the 3-foot inflatable burritos! There were lots of running, ducking, dodging, throwing and screaming!

The round ends when the last Burrito Bruise is given out. Now count the scores and award the person with the highest score a Fear Me Badge. If there is a tie, you have to resolve it with a Duel!

This game is so fun to play and we all had enjoyed it and had fun! I love the concept of this game as it is simple to play with all ages. It is a great party game too, to get everyone involved. I do find the jumbo cards quite hard to grab and distribute. The water-resistant surface of the cards makes them hard to separate individually. Occasionally we have to use a wet cloth to moisten our fingers to grip the cards. The plus side is the cute 3-foot tall inflatable burritos! It is so fun using it for battle! I would recommend it and I will definitely get the regular edition too. It is available to buy from good toy retailers, online including Amazon.
