My son and I are always fascinated with mummies and the strange phenomena and myths that surround them. Mummies Exposed is written by Kerrie Logan Hollihan and has been sent to us by Abrams Books for Young Readers. This book is easy to read and understand which is suitable for young readers. I also find this book easy to understand, especially as my English is not my strongest subject!
This book introduces young readers to the most compelling examples of mummies from all over the world. Just like the title of this book suggests, it explains which are creepy and true. The book is also packed with facts and goes beyond what you expect and uncovers both old favourites and recent discoveries. It comprises several chapters with full-colour illustrations and includes endnotes, bibliography and index.
This A5 size book might look small but it is packed full of information that you need to know about mummies. There are many examples like the Moche princess in Peru, the bog people of England and Ireland, a Buddhist monk discovered within a sculpture, the Tutankhamen’s curse, the best way to mummify a body and the tricks of the trade when it comes to archaeology and anthropology.
Through this book, we have learnt a lot about mummies and this book is like a starter book to introduce mummies to young readers and their background stories. We find this book very interesting to read and definitely broadens our knowledge about the history!
I would recommend this book. It is available to buy now from good book retailers, online and Amazon.
