The Werewolves of Millers Hollow Review

26 April 2019 by Eileen

The Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow is a party card game that requires at least eight people to play with up to a maximum of 18 people. This party game comes in a very small box containing 24 square cards and instructions, which is suitable for aged 14 and above. If I was looking for party game ideas, this would be one of my choices! It is so fun and easy to play!

The Werewolves of Millers Hollow review

This portable party game takes place in a small town called Millers Hollow and each night, murders are committed by werewolves. It is now time to take control and eliminate this ancient evil before the town loses its last few inhabitants.

In this game, you will need a moderator and he/she must familiar with all of the rules of the game to create a strong atmosphere to make the game truly enjoyable. The moderator can also be a player if you don’t have enough players.

Depending on the number of players, you draw the number of picture cards as shown on the instruction chart page 10. Now each player is secretly assigned a role/draw the card: Werewolf, Ordinary Townsfolk or special character such as the Sheriff, the Hunter, the Witch, the Little Girl, the Fortune Teller and so on.

The moderator controls the game and alternates between night and day phases. At night, the werewolves secretly choose a villager to kill. During the day, the villager who was killed is revealed and is out of the game. The remaining villagers (normal and special villagers alike) then deliberate and vote on a player they suspect is a werewolf, helped (or hindered) by the clues the special characters add to the general deliberation. The chosen player is lynched, reveals his/her role and is out of the game.

I find this game is very interesting to play especially when you incorporate the special roles. It is like a murder mystery but on a small scale. This game was first published in 2001 and through the years, they have added more expansion packs to satisfy their fans! I am delighted to find such an interesting card game that I can play with my friends! I would recommend it! It is available to buy from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.
