SET Game Review

31 August 2018 by Eileen Leave a Comment

SET is a fast-thinking and challenging visual card game where players race to find as many sets as quickly as possible. It is suitable for aged six and above, for one to eight players.

Inside this box, there are 81 cards where each card contains four features: colour (red, purple or green), shape (oval, squiggle or diamond), number (one, two or three) and shading (solid, striped or outlined). Players have to identify three cards where each feature, when looked at individually, is either all the same OR all different.

To set up, shuffle the cards and lay 12 face-up on the table so that all the cards can be seen by all the players. Now try to be the first person to identify a set. When we first began playing it, there were so many times we called “Set” but identified the wrong cards and got a penalty. In fact, no matter how many rounds we went, in the heat of the moment, we sometimes still get it wrong!

SET game playing

We all enjoy playing it as a family and it builds cognitive, logical and spatial reasoning skills as well as visual perception skills! This game has a rule of logic (three cards that are all the same or all different in each individual feature), and players must apply this rule to the spatial array of patterns all at once.

This is a great game to exercise your brains to keep it active and healthy. It comes in a compact box that is perfect as a travel game or party game. I would definitely recommend it. It is available to buy from good toy retailers and Amazon.
